Earth Science Week
Since October 1998, the American Geological Institute has organized this national and international event to help the public gain a better understanding and appreciation for the Earth Sciences and to encourage stewardship of the Earth. This year's Earth Science Week will be held from October 14-20 and will celebrate the theme "Our Ever-Changing Earth."  >>

GLOBE Climate and Land Cover Project
The Climate and Land Cover Intensive Observing Period is a research effort between GLOBE schools and climate scientists to improve land cover classifications for climate models. Using GLOBE land cover protocols, students take photographs and classify representative land cover areas near their schools and upload these data to the GLOBE database. These data can be used by students to compare land cover around the world and will be used by scientists to improve land cover classifications for climate models.  >>

GLOBE Europe+Eurasia Annual Conference
The GLOBE Europe+Eurasia Annual Conference will be held, from 10-14 June, in Ultrecht. GLOBE country coordinators, trainers, scientists, government points of contact and other strategic partners will come together to discuss strategies for development in the region. Professional development workshops, social activities and visits to the student Sustainability Olympiad, which will be held concurrently, will be provided.  >>

2012 International Environment and Sustainability Olympiad
The 2012 International Environment and Sustainability Olympiad (INESP) took place in Ultrectht, The Netherlands, from 10-15 June. Students between 13-and-18-years-old are welcome to participated in the Olympiad by presenting research projects that examine innovative solutions to environmental issues. This event was held conconcurrenly with the 2012 GLOBE Europe + Eurasia Annual Meeting in order to allow participation in both events.  >>

Great Global Investigation of Climate 2012
This global investigation will focus on defining local climate through GLOBE protocols and the student inquiry question "What is my climate and how has it changed?" Students are asked to collect and enter temperature and precipitation data in the GLOBE database and investigate how to classify local weather and climate using these atmospheric data.  >>

ENO Tree Planting Day 2012
ENO Tree Planting Day is an open event for schools and groups interested in environment and peace. It is arranged twice in a year, in May and in September. We plant trees and get to know about species on the planting sites. Tree planting is one of the most popular activities in the ENO Programme. Join us! To celebrate the 12th ENO Tree Planting Day and the forthcoming Rio 20+ we call all the schools in the world to plant trees with us on the 22nd of May 2012. We aim to create the worlds' biggest event for schools, to extend it all the countries in the world. See the video on the right to get an idea about the day!  >>

Earth Day 2012
For GLOBE, Earth Day is always a special day. It marks the anniversary of the Program and it is also the time when the international community celebrates our planet. Be sure to visit the new GLOBE Facebook page on 22 April to see the winners of the GLOBE video competition. Facebook is a great place to let us, and the rest of the GLOBE community, know what you are doing to celebrate Earth Day. The GLOBE Program Office (GPO) encourages you to share your pictures and stories. GLOBE at Night 2012
The GLOBE at Night program is an international citizen-science campaign to raise public awareness of the impact of light pollution by inviting citizen-scientists to measure their night sky brightness and submit their observations to a website from a computer or smart phone.  >>
