GLOBE Earth Day: Collect, Visualize, Connect

Earth Day is 22 April, and this year marks the 27th Anniversary of The GLOBE Program! To celebrate, the GLOBE Implementation Office (GIO) invites GLOBE students to participate in a global Air Temperature (AT) Data Challenge one month prior, on Friday, 25 March.

The challenge is to collect air temperature data measurements worldwide on the same day, and at the same time of day depending on where you live; visualize the AT data via graphs or drawings; and connect with the worldwide GLOBE community.

During the data collection, students are encouraged to document their participation using photographs. (These photographs might include students using thermometers, or taking air temperature measurements, or photos of the environment where the temperature data is being collected. So many possibilities….)

After the data collection, students can visualize the AT data collected, and connect with other students by investigating the data using the GLOBE Visualization System and GLOBE Advanced Data Access Tool (ADAT) System. These visualizations may represent the data through graphs or drawings.

A select number of GLOBE student photographs and visualizations will be featured during the GLOBE Earth Day Celebration on 22 April.
