Are you participating in the October Urban Heat Island Effect (UHIE) Intensive Observation Period? Then join My NASA and the NASA Educator Professional Development Collaborative (EPDC) for the webinar, “Explore Earth: Understanding the Creation of Urban Heat Islands” on Monday, 17 October at 05:00 p.m. ET.

Participants will experience an in-depth demonstration of the creation of urban heat islands Story Map. By interacting with various visualizations (i.e., images, charts, and graphs), students can explore the urban heat island effect using land surface temperature and vegetation data. Students will investigate the processes that create differences in surface temperatures, as well as how human activities have led to the creation of urban heat islands.
