RCMRD Space Challenge 2018

GLOBE Program (Kenya) and Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) with other partners have introduced an activity dubbed “RCMRD Space Challenge” which started in 2017 and is in the second year. The challenge targets GLOBE primary and secondary schools to enlighten and equip the children in Kenya on Environmental Education themes. The RCMRD Space Challenge leverages on partnership between RCMRD, GLOBE, TAHMO, 4-H Kenya, Primary Schools and High schools within Kenya.

This year (2018), we conducted a 4-day training and consultation workshop which was attended by teachers from 20 primary and secondary schools.The training was conducted at the RCMRD Training Centre in Kasarani, Kenya on 9th-12th April 2018.

The main aim of the training was to equip teachers with necessary skills in relevant GLOBE Protocols, land cover changes and linkages with weather variables which would form the base of RCMRD Space challenge 2018. The 2018 challenge will be level specific with primary and secondary schools having different sets of challenges.

Last year, 7 schools participated in the Space Challenge. Click on the video link below to see a video done during last year's RCMRD Space Challenge 2017;
