Día 2 - Reunión Regional de GLOBE LAC 2023
En el segundo día de la Reunión Regional de GLOBE LAC 2023, las líderes de la Campaña "Árboles dentro de LAC", Ana Prieto, Claudia Caro y Andrea Ventoso, presentaron los resultados preliminares de la campaña (febrero a septiembre) dando un panorama general de los siguie
ntes temas:

- Tutoriales elaborados

- Número de datos recolectados
- Especies comunes de árboles evaluadas

Luego, los Grupos de Trabajo de Ciencia y Tecnología (a cargo de Paula Paez y Ana Prieto) presentaron su informe en donde se detallaron los logros obtenidos entre el 2021 y 2023 y las principales líneas de acción para el próximo año. Una vez finalizada las presentaciones, el equipo fue al American Center en donde se realizaron sesiones de formación y preparación para la observación del Eclipse. Se dividieron en tres grupos a cargo de Ana Prieto, Andrea Ventoso y Henry Clarke en donde se tomaron mediciones en los horarios cuando al día siguiente fue el punto máximo del eclipse.
Durante la tarde, los grupos de investigación a cargo de docentes y estudiantes, hicieron la presentación de sus proyectos y se realizaron actividades de intercambio cultural. Los grupos estaban conformados por alumnos de cuatro colegios de Argentina a cargo de los profesores Emiliano Vinocur (Colegio EETP N° 449 "Pago de los Arroyos" y EPPI N° 1345 "Nuestra Señora del Carmen"), María Inés Amato (St. Luke’s College), María Fernanda Kielmanowicz (Colegio de la Mesopotamia) y María Marta Gutiérrez (St. Luke’s College), un colegio de Uruguay, a cargo de Darío Greni (Escuela Rural No. 88 Alfred Nobel), un colegio de Colombia a cargo de Juan Felipe Restrepo Mesa (Grupo de Investigación Biontessori) y un colegio de Panamá a cargo de Guillermo Fadul.
Fue un día intenso de trabajo en donde se realizaron presentaciones de distintas áreas de GLOBE LAC y puesta en común de resultados con el fin de plasmar logros y nuevos desafíos para el equipo y afianzar las relaciones interpares. Las sesiones de entrenamiento fueron cruciales para llevar un monitoreo que esté plasmado en la App GLOBE Observer. Por último, la incorporación a la Reunión de equipos de docentes y alumnos fue novedoso y resultó fructífero para conocer en voz de los mismos alumnos, el entusiasmo del Programa GLOBE y motivar el aprendizaje de nuestros futuros científicos.
On the second day of the GLOBE LAC 2023 Regional Meeting, the leaders of the "Trees within LAC" Campaign, Ana Prieto, Claudia Caro, and Andrea Ventoso, presented the preliminary results of the campaign (from February to September), giving an overview of the following topics:
- Specific objectives
- Webinars and special guests
- Developed tutorials
- Protocols used
- Number of collected data
- Common tree species evaluated
- Campaign participation in the GLOBE Annual Meeting
- Expected results
- Incentives provided
- Campaign's relationship with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Following this, the Science and Technology Working Groups (led by Paula Paez and Ana Prieto) presented their report detailing the achievements between 2021 and 2023 and the main lines of action for the upcoming year. After the presentations, the team went to the American Center, where training sessions and preparations for the Eclipse observation took place. They were divided into three groups led by Ana Prieto, Andrea Ventoso, and Henry Clarke, and measurements were taken at the times when the eclipse was at its peak the following day.
In the afternoon, research groups led by teachers and students presented their projects, and cultural exchange activities were carried out. The groups consisted of students from four schools in Argentina under the guidance of teachers Emiliano Vinocur (EETP N° 449 "Pago de los Arroyos" and EPPI N° 1345 "Nuestra Señora del Carmen"), María Inés Amato (St. Luke’s College), María Fernanda Kielmanowicz (Colegio de la Mesopotamia), and María Marta Gutiérrez (St. Luke’s College), a school from Uruguay under the guidance of Darío Greni (Escuela Rural No. 88 Alfred Nobel), a school from Colombia under the guidance of Juan Felipe Restrepo Mesa (Biontessori Research Group), and a school from Panama under the guidance of Guillermo Fadul.
It was an intense day of work where presentations from various areas of GLOBE LAC were made, and results were shared to highlight achievements and new challenges for the team while strengthening peer relationships. Training sessions were crucial for collecting data that would be recorded in the GLOBE Observer App. Finally, the inclusion of teams of teachers and students in the meeting was innovative and proved fruitful for understanding the enthusiasm for the GLOBE Program in the students' own words and for motivating the learning of our future scientists.
