Se realizó el octavo webinar de la campaña "Árboles dentro de LAC" / The eighth webinar of the "Trees inside LAC" campaign was held
El jueves 14 de septiembre se realizó el octavo webinar de la campaña "Árboles dentro de LAC": "Dendrocronología: Su contribución al entendimiento de la dinámica ambiental en América del Sur", en el que participaron 75 maestros de 10 países de la región (Argentina, Brasil, Guatemala, Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay, México, Paraguay, Panamá, Perú).
El webinar tuvo como invitado especial al Dr. Ricardo Villalba (Instituto Argentino de Nivología, Glaciología y Ciencias Ambientales - CCT-CONICET), distinguido científico con un extenso historial de publicaciones y ganador del Premio Konex 2023. Su presentación versó sobre el interrogante ¿Qué nos cuentan los anillos de los árboles? Su importancia y contribución a la dinámica ambienta en la región de América del Sur.
Después de la presentación del Dr. Villalba, la coordinadora de la Oficina Regional de GLOBE LAC, Mariana Savino, anunció a los seis ganadores del incentivo para asistir a la XX Reunión Regional de GLOBE LAC, que se llevará a cabo del 12 al 14 de octubre en la Ciudad de Panamá. Se presentaron un total de 12 proyectos de investigación procedentes de Argentina, Brasil, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú y Uruguay. La evaluación de los mismos se realizó bajo los criterios establecidos desde la Oficina Regional. Hubo una gran emoción por este logro, ya que representa una nueva oportunidad para docentes y estudiantes, fruto de un gran esfuerzo colaborativo.
El evento contó con traducción simultánea del español al portugués.

On Thursday, September 14, the eighth webinar of the "Trees within LAC" campaign was held: "Dendrochronology: Its contribution to the understanding of environmental dynamics in South America", with the participation of 75 teachers from 10 countries in the region (Argentina, Brazil, Guatemala, Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Mexico, Paraguay, Panama, Peru).
The webinar had as special guest Dr. Ricardo Villalba (Argentine Institute of Nivology, Glaciology and Environmental Sciences - CCT-CONICET), a distinguished scientist with an extensive publication record and winner of the Konex 2023 Award. His presentation focused on the question: What do tree rings tell us? Their importance and contribution to environmental dynamics in the South American region.
After Dr. Villalba's presentation, the coordinator of the GLOBE LAC Regional Office, Mariana Savino, announced the six winners of the incentive to attend the XX GLOBE LAC Regional Meeting, which will be held from October 12 to 14 in Panama City. A total of 12 research projects were submitted from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Uruguay. They were evaluated according to the criteria established by the Regional Office. There was great excitement for this achievement, as it represents a new opportunity for teachers and students, the result of a great collaborative effort.
The event was simultaneously translated from Spanish to Portuguese.
