ICESat-2 Pre-launch Educator Workshop on GME Facebook Live
ICESat-2 Pre-launch Educator Workshop from the Dick DeWees Community Center in Lompoc, California was on GME (GLOBE Mission EARTH) Facebook Live on September 13, 2018. Brian Campbell, NASA Earth Science Education Specialist at NASA Wallops Flight Facility, described the science behind the mission and its connection to the GLOBE Program. John Moore and Peter Dorofy from the Palmyra Cove Nature Park’s Institute for Earth Observations explained how the data from ICESat-2 can be display on the HoloGLOBE. MEI Participants Received GLOBE Training at NASA Centers
The MEI (MUREP Educator Institute) attendees received GLOBE Training in Clouds and Surface Temperature Protocols at the NASA Centers this summer. NASA’S Minority University Research and Education Project (MUREP) invites professors and their education students to attend a 5-day institute at each center. This year GLOBE trainers worked alongside with NASA education specialists to train the MEI participants. Marile Colon Robles from NASA Langley, and Dr. Kevin Czajkowski, lead scientist for the GLOBE Urban Heat Island Effect Campaign, worked over the past year with both groups via zoom to make this opportunity happen.  >>

GME in Killarney, Ireland for the GLE!!!
Many members of the GLOBE Mission EARTH team traveled to the beautiful town of Killarney, Ireland for the 2018 GLOBE Learning Expedition! 14 GME Members attended and gave 7 presentations, including 5 GME Teachers and 4 presentations with 21 students giving 12 presentations! GME Hosts the 2018 SATELLITES Student Conference!
On May 1, 2018, more than 100 students from Michigan & Ohio presented over 70 research projects at the GLOBE Mission EARTH SATELLITES Student conference at The University of Toledo’s Student Union. This conference, originally named SATELLITES: Students And Teachers Exploring Local Landscapes to Interpret The Earth from Space, has grown over the years.  >>
