International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS) 2024 Launches in October!

October 2023 will see the launch of the 2024 International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS)! This year, the theme is "Climate Investigations: Understanding Earth as a System."

GLOBE is really looking forward to seeing how students from across all 127 member countries take up the challenge of doing their own climate research using the GLOBE Protocols and other sources of data. This year GLOBE has introduced a new ‘I am a problem solver’ badge that students can earn; it is very exciting to see what solutions GLOBE students can propose. The IVSS is a part of GLOBE’s Year of Climate and Carbon (YCC) Campaign, and some of the students who produce outstanding work may get the opportunity to present their work at the 2024 GLOBE Annual Meeting in the USA, where the theme will be "Climate and Resilience."

Want to know more? There will be an informational webinar shared with the GLOBE community on 11 October (useful for both teachers, students and those interested in volunteering to be judges). On 25 October there will also be a joint YCC/IVSS webinar that will help students and teachers understand the GLOBE resources that can support the research.
