The 2012 International Environment and Sustainability Olympiad (INESP) took place in Ultrectht, The Netherlands, from 10-15 June. Students between 13-and-18-years-old are welcome to participated in the Olympiad by presenting research projects that examine innovative solutions to environmental issues. This event was held conconcurrenly with the 2012 GLOBE Europe + Eurasia Annual Meeting in order to allow participation in both events.  >>

This global investigation will focus on defining local climate through GLOBE protocols and the student inquiry question "What is my climate and how has it changed?" Students are asked to collect and enter temperature and precipitation data in the GLOBE database and investigate how to classify local weather and climate using these atmospheric data.  >>

ENO Tree Planting Day is an open event for schools and groups interested in environment and peace. It is arranged twice in a year, in May and in September. We plant trees and get to know about species on the planting sites. Tree planting is one of the most popular activities in the ENO Programme. Join us! To celebrate the 12th ENO Tree Planting Day and the forthcoming Rio 20+ we call all the schools in the world to plant trees with us on the 22nd of May 2012. For GLOBE, Earth Day is always a special day. It marks the anniversary of the Program and it is also the time when the international community celebrates our planet. Be sure to visit the new GLOBE Facebook page on 22 April to see the winners of the GLOBE video competition. Facebook is a great place to let us, and the rest of the GLOBE community, know what you are doing to celebrate Earth Day. The GLOBE at Night program is an international citizen-science campaign to raise public awareness of the impact of light pollution by inviting citizen-scientists to measure their night sky brightness and submit their observations to a website from a computer or smart phone.  >>

International World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. An international day to celebrate freshwater was recommended at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). The United Nations General Assembly responded by designating 22 March 1993 as the first World Water Day.  >>

The GLOBE Program Office (GPO) invites you to participate in an online webinar to learn more about what is currently happening in the GLOBE Student Climate Research Campaign. No prior registration is required. Simply connect to one of the sessions listed above.  >>

Students create a video of their class engaging in exploring and investigating their local climate through data collection with GLOBE protocols and climate-focused learning activities. Students explain what they are doing and what climate projects they are working on in their home language on the video. An English written transcript of the video should be submitted to ensure proper credit and archival of all submissions. Upload your video to your favorite video sharing website (for example YouTube, TeacherTube, Vimeo, or others) and send us the link to your video.  >>

Conference on Earth Science and Climate Change Research is organized by the GLOBE Regional Office for Asia-Pacific and the Indian Environmental Society, this youth conference invites scientists, research scolars, students and teachers and representatives of NGOs throughout the world to promote and encourage participation in the GLOBE Student Climate Research Campaign and to share research ideas and methodologies related to Earth science and climate research.  >>

A student research Xpedition to Mt. Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, Africa Our Xpedition Team of Students, Educators and Scientists will travel to Tanzania, Africa to Climb the largest freestanding mountain in the world to gather environmental data within the distinct biomes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Along the way we hope to use GLOBE protocols to better identify the six unique biomes on the mountain.  >>
