The Call for Lightning Talks for the 2023 North American Regional Meeting is Now Open!
The 2023 North American Regional Meeting (NARM) will be held virtually from 01 to 03 November. Each day will consist of two to three hours of keynotes, networking around “GLOBE Interactions And Collaborations” submissions, and discussion around lightning talks. Please hold the following times 01-03 November 2023 for the NARM: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. PT / 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. MT / 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET.
Those interested can submit their idea for a lightning talk, focused on one of the three strands, through this Google Form. Idea submissions must meet the deadlines and requirements for the Lightning Talk presentations detailed in the Lightning Talk Guidelines. Presenters should be available during the NARM discussion time of their Lightning Talk. The agenda for each day will be drafted very soon and will be shared with the GLOBE community.
The three strands are:
- Wednesday, 01 November: Interactions and collaborations among local, regional and international communities (Community Goal 2) (can include how to develop collaborations, processes, case studies, challenges and triumphs; alumni engagement; teacher/school engagement and/or supports, Indigenous knowledge in GLOBE and promoting Indigenous participation, connection to the Year of Climate and Carbon Campaign, etc.)
- Thursday, 02 November: GLOBE impact and outcomes in the North American regional community: Communities of Practice and Examples (Evaluation Goal 4) (can include Working Group activities and feedback, trainer-mentor-trainer, GLOBE impact in the classroom/informal settings, evaluation do’s and don’ts, etc.)
- Friday, 03 November: Expanding our GLOBE Networks (Community Goal 1) (May be a stand-alone lightning talk or could be linked to a mini-professional development session during the NARM synchronous discussion time period. Can also include supporting those with disabilities, cross-network collaborations, scientific collaborations e.g., satellite imagery and data)
Requirements:
- Submissions of intent through this Google Form must be received by 21 September. Late entries will not be accepted. Presenters will hear whether their submission has been accepted by 02 October.
- The presentation should focus on one of the strands and be no more than seven minutes long.
- Presentations should use PowerPoint (PPT) or Google Slides.
- If accepted, presentation slides must be uploaded to a Google Folder by Wednesday, 25 October (presenters will be given access to the folder after their submission has been accepted). They can continue to edit their slides within the Google Folder prior to their presentation.
