Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regional Science Fair 10-11 March: Register by 16 February!
The Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regional Science Fair will be held on 10-11 March at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, USA. Teachers, students, US Partnerships, scientists, and alumni from the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic geographic area (DE, DC, CT, ME, MD, MA, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VT, VA, WV) are invited to gather and discuss GLOBE student research projects at the first annual US regional conference.

In case you missed the Webinar on 02 February, you can now view it! The webinar provided an update from Dr. Erika Podest, SMAP scientist at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory about what the SMAP satellite has measured in 1 year of spaceflight.

GLOBE/SMAP Reaches Goal of 1,000 Protocol Measurements by 31 January SMAP Launch Anniversary!
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of all participants, the current Soil Moisture Field Campaign (which began 1 October 2015 and will run through 30 April 2016) reached its goal of 1,000 protocol measurements by the first anniversary of the SMAP launch. On 27 January, looking at raw data and including non-measureable ground states, GLOBE broke 1,000 measurements. To date, GLOBE/SMAP has now received 1,073 protocol measurements.

GLOBE/SMAP Soil Moisture Field Campaign Updates
There is now a SMAP L3 Data Layer on the GLOBE Data Map. Students participating in the Soil Moisture Field Campaign (which began 1 October 2015 and will run through 30 April 2016) can choose to look at specific SMAP data for a particular day – and then compare it to their school data.
