. The International GLOBE Oman Camp

The Ministry of Education, hand in hand with the GLOBE program in Oman keep the efforts going in trying to organize the international student environmental GLOBE camp taking place from the 17th to 19th of the March in the governate of Muscat, specifically Yeti beach. The event will include student participation from a number of countries representing the countries of the NENA region, such as Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Lebanon, UAE, Jordan, and Pakistan. About a 120 students will join the camp from all the schools of the program, which this year reach 30 schools from all over the Sultanate along with anumber of others from the region.
This event will represent an opportunity for the students to brainstorm, exchange thoughts and compare results of their research concerning the program's protocols. The protocols are usually soil, hydrology, atmosphere and landcover, which the students will study with more depth. They will apply these protocols to get more knowledge about the biodiversity of the area. These protocols provide scientific readings about the natural changes affecting our globe directly and indirectly, gathered by the students in the field.
Not only that, but the student camp will involve many other scientific, social, and entertaining activitiesthroughout the whole event where the students will actively participate in taking measurements for some of the sites near them and organizing fun trips for near areas. There will also be some friendly games andcompetitions between the Sulatanate's students and the other countries' students, who will perform and present something representing each country's culture.
The science fair of 2014-2015 will also be one of the major things happening at the GLOBE camp inOman this year. The event will allow students from other countries to participate and bring in environment-related projects with prizes to be won. Speaking of winning: the student winner of the camp's logo contest has been announced earlier in the year out of 85 contestants from all over the"GLOBE".
The research results of the students will be evaluated during the camp as well. Their research is aboutenvironmental issues concerning our ecosystem and a variety of things about our community. There will be results of science fair will be looked at by a team of experts and evaluated along with other members from the committee.
The camping program will also involve the participating and collaborating Eco friendly organizations such as the Environmental Preservation Office, national field trip centre in environment preservation, Earth Watch, climate affairs, Sultan Qaboos University, Ministry of Environment, and the Environmental Omani Society.
We hope this will be a successful and enjoyable trip for all participating members, and many will come out of it with good memories to look back on and knowledge to gain. The event will also be one of the many celebrations of GLOBE's 20th anniversary.
