Zika Evaluation Meeting October 2018 in Panama City

After the training in May in Peru a number of target countries were invited to report back on what was achieved after attending the meeting. More than 4600 data entries were uploaded with Peru in the lead, followed by Brazil and with Suriname in the third place. Other news from Kristin Wegner and Mariana Sauvino were that more videos and other tools have been added to the website. In addition, a virtual exchange program was developed through the State Department with guest speakers and more than three schools participating.

Reports from individual countries highlighted what had gone well and what the challenges had been. One activity that stood out in the stories told by three country coordinators was the Triple Frontier Workshop organized by Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay jointly on their joint borders. This was a great success where people were talking to each other and sharing experiences.

In general the project is moving forward nicely and countries are preparing to complete their Country Mosquito Trainings and start working on the Local Mosquito Workshops. Suriname was the only country that had already conducted one Local Mosquito Workshop.
