The GLOBE U.S. Coordination Office invites you and your students to participate in Mission SnowGLOBE starting in January 2023 to collect measurements during snow events to assist the NASA Investigation of Microphysics and Precipitation for Atlantic Coast-Threatening Snowstorms (IMPACTS) field campaign. At this webinar for Educators and Partners, join IMPACTS Principal Investigator, Dr. Lynn McMurdie, to learn:
- Why these data are important
- GLOBE protocols & necessary equipment
- Optional data such as pictures of snow crystals
- What you will need to do in December to be ready for the storm activation emails (48 hour advance notice) including:
- How to make a snowboard
- Getting your precipitation gauge ready and how to use it to measure snow-water equivalent
- Defining the study site in advance
- Deciding how you will collect data if there is a snow day!
