GLOBE Italy Hosts World Water Day Celebration on 22 March 2024

In collaboration with GLOBE Europe-Eurasia Region Coordination Office, the 24th edition of "Rivers in Spring," the International World Water Day in Mantova (Northern Italy), will occur on 22 March 2024.

The in-person event is structured around about 50 workstations offering activities including scientific laboratories, creative workshops, exhibitions, games, excursions by motorboat, canoe, on foot and by bicycle, etc.

"The stations are managed by middle and high school students in the city and province of Mantova and by classes from Friuli Venezia Giulia, as well as by public bodies, regional parks, Italian universities and research centers, environmental associations, regional environmental protection agencies, local water control and management agencies, companies, etc. It is an event that over the years has always seen the participation of about 3,000 people including students, children and teachers. It is promoted by LABTER-CREA (the Territorial Laboratory Reference Center for Environmental Education of Mantova), GLOBE Italy, GLOBE Italy Association APS, Fermi High School in Mantova and Bassa Friulana High School in Cervignano del Friuli (both leading GLOBE schools in Italy) and Deakin University (Australia), but co-planned with the Mantova community and national research agencies." - GLOBE Italy Coordinators

During the event, a national live broadcast in Italian will be feature interviews between students managing the stations and other students, researchers, and representatives from organizations attending the event. Internationally, another live broadcast (in English) will feature presentations and pre-recorded videos by GLOBE Educators and Scientists.
