NASA PLACES Seeks Input from Middle and High School Educators on Place-Based Education
Help promote student engagement in data-rich Earth science learning by sharing your experiences with PLACES (Place-based Learning to Advance Connections, Education, and Stewardship) – a NASA-funded project to support effective professional learning on place-based approaches to data-rich instruction.
PLACES is seeking to identify strengths, challenges, and needs associated with data-rich instruction. They have created a needs assessment survey for this purpose, and are inviting Middle and High School educators to participate by completing a 30-minute online survey. (At the end of the survey, educators can indicate their interest in participating in an optional 75-minute focus group. Respondents selected to participate in the focus group will receive a $50 gift card.)
Who Can Participate?
PLACES is seeking educators who:
- currently teach (or have recently taught) any Earth science topics to middle school and/or high school students;
- work (or have worked) in school-based or out-of-school settings; and
- are interested in supporting data-rich teaching and learning.
(Although not a requirement, PLACES hopes to hear from practitioners who have experience with place-based education and/or who work with indigenous populations or recent immigrants.)
