Registration is open for the 2023 U.S. Regional Student Research Symposia (SRS). At a SRS, students can share the results of their hard work in GLOBE research investigations. For students in the 5th to 12th grades, the symposia offer the chance to discuss research projects with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) professionals, share ideas and learn from peers, and explore STEM careers. Symposia are held every spring in each of GLOBE's six U.S. regions.  >>

After an internal search at UCAR, I am happy to share that starting April 3rd, John Ristvey will assume the role of GIO Director of Operations and Implementation. John brings experience with The GLOBE Program as a former GIO Associate Director and as a current GLOBE partner.   >>

The GLOBE Program has recently updated the website with regard to current air quality campaigns. Air quality measurements help scientists and researchers determine how clean or polluted the air is. The quality of air in your neighborhood, town or regional area can have significant impact on human health and environmental processes surrounding nearby communities.  >>

The United States GLOBE Coordination Office is accepting applications for a GLOBE intern at the STEM Enhancement in Earth Science (SEES) 2023 Summer High School Intern Program. This opportunity is ONLY open to current Sophomores and Juniors who are GLOBE students. Application deadline is 15 March.  >>

The deadline for submitting reports to the 2023 International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS) has been extended through Monday, 13 March. This extension is due to technical issues with the upload tool, which the GLOBE Implementation Office (GIO) is working to resolve. (PLEASE NOTE: Some accounts may have difficulty uploading collaborative projects that list two separate schools or that have longer than usual upload times.)  >>

The GLOBE Mission Mosquito (GMM) webinar, “Mosquito Larvae Bootcamp” will be held on Thursday, 09 March, at 02:00 p.m. ET (06:00 p.m. UTC).  >>

The Trees Around the GLOBE Student Research Campaign will be hosting the webinar: “The State of Trees – March 2023: May the Forest Be With You: Mapping Ecosystem Structure and Understanding Global Carbon Balance with GEDI” on Tuesday, 07 March, at 01:00 p.m. ET (06:00 p.m. UTC/07:00 p.m. CET).  >>

Are you interested in judging for the IVSS? Judges can be STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) professionals, alumni, teachers, grad students, or other interested community members. Typically, judging takes around 20-30 minutes per project; and GIO asks that you commit to at least three projects.  >>
