Tomáš Groh

Tomáš Groh first became involved with the GLOBE Program while attending the Gymnázium Jateční, Ústí nad Labem in the Czech Republic.  Those three years laid the foundation for Tomáš’ continued involvement with the program – he is currently a member of the Czech Republic’s GLOBE Alumni.

He writes: “Participating in the GLOBE Program was a logical choice for me. I am an environmentally- and scientifically-oriented person.  Being a part of the program also allowed me to meet several friends who had similar interests.  After my grammar school final exams, I went on to study biochemistry.  I continued with this course of study all through the completion of my doctorate. During this time, I was a member of the Czech Republic’s GLOBE Alumni.  I met a lot of great people and I learned to create projects that can be funded through government grants."

Tomáš concluded: “GLOBE is a great program for students who have a close relationship to nature. It definitely influenced my choice of a major (biochemistry) and my career (I work as a researcher in the field of stem cells).  I see myself continuing to be a part of the GLOBE community by helping and participating in the program’s projects from time to time."
