Evaluation Across the GLOBE Community
Evaluation Across the GLOBE Community
The GLOBE Program strives to be an evidence-based program that values formative feedback and ongoing evaluation in order to better understand and serve its community. Evaluation activities include:
Continuous Improvement and Formative Feedback
The GIO employs continuous improvement efforts to collect frequent feedback from the community using a wide variety of formats. For example, informal conversations, structured discussions, and focus groups have provided feedback to the GIO and strengthened the goals and engagement strategies employed by GLOBE coordinators. We also distribute forms, surveys, or Padlets prior to or after meetings or events to capture additional insights and priorities from the GLOBE community.
In addition, information from the annual GLOBE community survey, GLOBE training database, GLOBE web analytics, event/registration data, GLOBE science entry database, and IVSS participation data are used to measure whether strategic goals and performance measures are being met.
Annual Surveys
The GIO collects feedback from GLOBE members (teachers, US Partners, Country Coordinators, GISN) on a yearly basis to understand their experiences and engagement with GLOBE. The results from the annual survey contribute to GIO’s understanding of progress toward strategic goals and where there is room for improvement.
Working Group Activities
Four working groups have been established to understand the successes and challenges of GLOBE implementation and to make recommendations for improvement. To reach its goals and objectives, each working group seeks input from the GLOBE community. During the Annual Meeting, members of GLOBE Working Groups hold small group conversations with the GLOBE community to obtain feedback, develop priorities, and inform recommendations. In addition, one of these working groups-- the Evaluation Working Group-- helps to identify GLOBE evaluation needs, brings forward ongoing evaluation activities, and disseminates evaluation findings to the GLOBE community.
