Impact and Metrics
Since the start of the GLOBE program in 1995, more than a quarter billion data measurements have been submitted to GLOBE's database by more than 1.2 million citizen scientists of all ages from more than 125 countries. To date, tens of thousands of educators have been trained in GLOBE's protocols and supported more than 900,000 students who have engaged with GLOBE data collection. Since 2016, over 8,200 students have participated in the International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS), and the numbers increase each year. The IVSS provides an opportunity for youth to showcase original research projects that use GLOBE data.

GLOBE Stars and STEM Stories also capture the impact of GLOBE on educators, youth, and communities. For example, read about Tiago, a student from Colegio de la Mesopotamia, and Professor María Fernanda Kielmanowicz, both from GLOBE Argentina. Tiago’s parents note, “... seeing our son’s determination, and especially his excitement, to embrace this opportunity, was truly moving. It opened a significant door for him into the world of scientific research.”
