2025 GLOBE Annual Meeting

Join members of the GLOBE community from around the world for a virtual event to celebrate the GLOBE Program’s 30th anniversary. This event will highlight GLOBE’s history, achievements, and innovations, and offer opportunities to collaborate on the program’s future direction. 

Date Announcement

Please note that this year’s Annual Meeting will look a little different from what we’re used to. All portions of this year’s meeting will take place virtually, with the main meeting occurring 14–15 July. This will be followed by several presentations and virtual discussions in the months following the main meeting. We will hold meetings for Working Group members and RCOs on 16 July. 

We remain committed to an engaging community-building event, and this structure will allow us to provide an opportunity to highlight the successes across the community and maintain the celebration of GLOBE’s 30th anniversary. 

Who Can Attend

While all adult members of the GLOBE community are welcome to attend, this meeting is specifically intended for coordinators, partners, and educators who are designing experiences to support engagement with GLOBE. Details about a separate, engaging virtual experience for student teams will be shared directly with those teams.

Call for Submissions (Closed)

The Call for Submissions has closed. We are currently reviewing submissions and will be in touch with applicants regarding our decision and next-steps soon. 

Agenda and Registration

GLOBE members will be notified via email when registration officially opens. Additional details about the agenda and registration for the 2025 Annual Meeting will be released within the month. Registration is required to access event details and virtual meeting links, but there is no fee to attend the Annual Meeting this year.

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Annual Meeting is to engage community members in:

• Celebrating the history and accomplishments of the GLOBE Program over the past 30 years
• Building a shared understanding of how the GLOBE Program advances Earth system science
• Building a learning community where we can share, learn from each other, and begin to apply what we learn to our work
• Deepening relationships and facilitating cross-regional exchanges across GLOBE country coordinators, U.S. partners, regional coordinators, educators, students, scientists, and alumni to strengthen and grow the program
• Strengthening participants’ understanding of how to use GLOBE protocols and data to: 
  • Support research and learning expeditions 
  • Improve observations to better understand Earth system science 
  • Increase impact on communities
• Building a shared understanding of recruitment, mentoring, and strategies to expand the GLOBE community, including increasing engagement with the scientific community
• Promoting GLOBE’s critical role in building an understanding of Earth systems among students and citizen scientists to mobilize current and future generations to safeguard our environment
