GLOBE Equipment

Several students stand outside in shallow water, dipping scientific instruments into the water.

In order to reliably compare scientific results from around the world, scientists have to standardize their equipment and procedures when collecting data. This standardization process also ensures that their own measurements are consistent from day to day, week to week, and year to year. However, this process can be deceptively challenging when you consider the enormous amount of measurement devices in production with an equally large range of accuracy among each brand. Because of this challenge, The GLOBE Program has identified both the equipment specifications as well particular devices that are appropriate for our different measurement protocols.
