Join GLOBE

GLOBE offers participants from all over the world an opportunity to contribute to knowledge about Earth systems science. GLOBE members can support NASA missions by conducting ground-based observations that complement the data collected by NASA’s satellites and contribute to research. 

By joining GLOBE, you will have access to training and resources for collecting and using data and for conducting your own research project using GLOBE and NASA’s extensive data sets. GLOBE resources also include materials that support facilitators and educators as they engage youth and others with NASA science. As a GLOBE member, you can connect with others in an international community of science enthusiasts and professionals and attend in-person and virtual meetings and events. 

Participating in GLOBE requires few resources. With a smart phone or tablet, you can use the GLOBE Observer app to record data about clouds, mosquito habitats, trees, land cover, and eclipses. Some GLOBE protocols rely on quick observations and recordings using only a camera and the human eye; others require relatively low-cost, commonplace instruments to observe environmental variables such as humidity, surface temperature, and barometric pressure.
