Relative Humidity Field Guide Updates
The Relative Humidity Field Guide has been updated to clarify instructions for measuring relative humidity with both sling psychrometers and digital hygrometers. For sling psychrometers, users are now directed to follow the manufacturer's instructions, as procedures vary by instrument. Users should sling the psychrometer for three minutes or as specified by the manufacturer and, when possible, face into the wind while taking measurements. Digital hygrometer guidance was also revised to clarify that users without an instrument shelter should place the hygrometer in a shaded location with air flow for at least 30 minutes before taking a reading. The updates also emphasize that relative humidity measurements are valuable at any time of day. Users planning to collect relative humidity data should review the updated field guides in the Relative Humidity Protocol.
