World Space Week 2015: 4-10 October

On 6 December 1999, the UN General Assembly declared 4-10 October as "World Space Week" to celebrate at the international level the contributions of space science and technology to the betterment of the human condition.

Since this declaration in 1999, World Space Week has grown into the largest public space event on Earth. Last year, more than 1,400 events in 80 countires celebrated the benefits of space and the excitement about space exploration. With the new deep space discoveries theme "Discover," the goal is to inspire even more events around the world.

During this week, teachers are encouraged to use space-themed activities. Visit the World Space Week website to search for events in your area and to find educational materials.
