Africa Overview

GLOBE Africa  

The GLOBE Africa region is coordinated through the GLOBE Implementation Office (GIO). The GIO’s Regional Coordination Hub provides support services to Country Coordinators and GLOBE program participants across Africa, offering guidance, resources, and coordination to help countries implement and expand their GLOBE activities.  

The GIO Regional Coordination Hub supports the region through the following services:  

  • Help Desk and basic support services – Assistance to community members across the region 
  • Funding identification – Support for accessing and pursuing external funding opportunities 
  • Communication and resource sharing – Dissemination of GLOBE Program communications, materials, events, and other resources and opportunities
  • Country recruitment support – Assistance with new country recruitment  
  • Event coordination – Organization of regional research campaigns and other events, including the annual Regional Meeting  
  • Network development – Development and strengthening of connections with the region’s alumni and scientist networks 
  • Record keeping and reporting – Maintenance of country participation and activity records and coordination of reporting and evaluation
