Explore Current and Upcoming GLOBE Activities Supporting NASA Science
GLOBE participants in 127 countries collect environmental observations that contribute to NASA Earth science. As NASA expands its Earth-observing missions, GLOBE is working with NASA scientists to identify new opportunities for participants to collect data that support NASA research and complement satellite observations.
Join us on 10 November at 12 pm ET (17:00 UTC) for a Meet the Missions webinar highlighting current and upcoming GLOBE activities supporting NASA science. Members of NASA's Crowdsourcing team will share preliminary results from the PACE Clouds Challenge, provide updates on ongoing data collection, and introduce several new campaigns.
Topics will include the following:
- We'll share preliminary results from the PACE Clouds Challenge, discuss opportunities to continue collecting clouds data, and provide updates on Land Cover observations through the North America Phenology Campaign. Both activities support NASA's PACE (Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem) mission.
- The upcoming GLOBE Field Cover Research Campaign will engage participants in collecting observations of crops and fields to support NASA's NISAR (NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar), SWOT (Surface Water and Ocean Topography), and EMIT (Earth Surface Mineral Dust Source Investigation) missions.
- A new snow campaign will focus on observations of snow cover, type, and color to support research using NISAR and EMIT data.
- We'll look ahead to HEAT28, a campaign exploring surface temperature and the urban heat island effect leading up to the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California, USA. The campaign will support NASA's ECOSTRESS (ECOsystem Spaceborne Thermal Radiometer Experiment on Space Station) instrument on the International Space Station and HyTES airborne data collection.
These activities offer opportunities for GLOBE participants to contribute ground-based observations that help scientists better understand environmental conditions observed from space.
Register for the webinar to learn more about these activities and how you can participate.
