February Tech Update
In the GLOBE technology area, we recently added a handful of new features to support uploading Student Research Symposia (SRS) and International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS) student reports. There are also a few things in progress:
- The release of a new GLOBE publications module so users can see all of the various scientific publications that have used GLOBE data
- The ability for trainers to confirm their Active Trainer status
- A new learning activities tool that will make it easier for users to find learning activities as well as submit their own
These are nearing completion and should be done before February is over.
For The GLOBE Program's app, GLOBE Observer, we recently released a new feature photograph capability to go with the Land Cover tool within the app which will allow users to take photos of special features while doing Land Cover. Another long-requested feature under development now is the ability to provide virtual awards and recognition to users who have done data collection – we’re looking forward to being able to recognize the data collection efforts being done. Finally, the April 2024 Eclipse is coming soon, so we’re also making sure the Eclipse tool app is tested and ready to go.
As always – let us know about how the changes are working for you, and if there’s something we can do to better support you, let us know at GLOBEhelp@ucar.edu.
