New Regional Advisory Boards
The GLOBE Implementation Office’s (GIO) Regional Coordination Hub is excited to announce the formation of new regional advisory boards to strengthen connections and collaboration across each region and throughout GLOBE communities worldwide.
The regional advisory boards will help ensure that regional perspectives, expertise, and priorities are reflected in GLOBE planning and support. Board members will share insights from their communities, connect GLOBE Partners with scientific networks and collaboration opportunities, and help shape events, materials, funding efforts, and strategies to engage and support participating countries.
Building Stronger Regional Connections
GLOBE countries provide a strong international network and foundation for advancing Earth systems science. Each region brings its own scientific interests, contexts for conducting GLOBE observations, partnerships, opportunities, and challenges. The regional advisory boards will help the GIO better understand these regional strengths and respond to area needs while encouraging collaboration among countries and across the broader GLOBE community.
Board members will serve as trusted regional voices and connectors. Their work will help identify opportunities to:
- Share effective practices, resources, and success stories across countries
- Strengthen connections among Country Coordinators, scientists, participants, and partner organizations
- Support regional events, initiatives, webinars, and other GLOBE activities
- Identify scientific and community networks that could expand opportunities for GLOBE participants
- Inform the development of communications, support materials, and other resources
- Highlight regional priorities and opportunities for collaboration and funding
- Encourage greater participation and engagement across the region’s GLOBE community
A Diverse Range of Expertise and Experience
Advisory board members serve on a voluntary basis and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to this work. Their backgrounds include science, country coordination, program leadership, education, and GLOBE alumni engagement. Together, they represent the many roles and perspectives that contribute to our vibrant GLOBE community.
This range of experience is an important strength of the regional advisory boards.
- Scientists help connect GLOBE activities with current research and scientific networks.
- Educators, facilitators, and trainers help ensure that resources are relevant and practical for implementation.
- Country Coordinators bring insight into national program implementation and partner needs.
- Alumni offer youth and early-career perspectives and help build continuity within the GLOBE community.
