Located in central Croatia at the junction of lowland and mountain Croatia. Karlovac is framed by the four rivers Kupa, Korana, Dobra and Mrežnica. It has a guaranteed summer season in terms of entertainment and economy. Considering the conducted survey, we noticed an increased interest in skating in the colder part of the year, so this stimulated interest in researching whether the skating season in the city of Karlovac can be extended, given the weather conditions. We wanted to explore according to the weather conditions, that the City Skating Rink "Mladost" be open and thus contribute to the development of tourism in the city of Karlovac and additional entertainment for young people.
From all these questions arises the research question of this project: How long can the skating season in the city of Karlovac be extended? The hypothesis of the project is that the skating season in the city of Karlovac could last from the beginning of November to the end of March each year. The propositions of the device in the plant in Karlovac in this composition of working substances R407C and glycol, say that the plant can work up to an outside daytime air temperature of 10 degrees Celsius, and the night temperature should be lower than 0 degrees Celsius. . Regardless of some deviations from average monthly air temperatures and the influence of warm wind when objectively the consumption of electricity for system maintenance is higher, the skating season in the city of Karlovac could be extended and last from the beginning of November to the end of March.
