Watcharee Ruariuen

Watcharee Ruariuen has been involved with GLOBE since 2003 when she was a student at Walailak University in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Thailand. At university she learned the GLOBE atmosphere protocols and, for the next 2 – 3 years, began collecting daily atmospheric data and sending it to the GLOBE website. During this time she also participated and assisted in teacher training, science education projects and many collaborative research projects.

Watcharee has been a member of the GLOBE Alumni Organization for Asia and Pacific since 2006. She is also involved with the International Alumni Network and in this role has participated at 3 annual conferences - Thailand 2006 and Seasons and Biome workshops 2006-Alaska, Texas 2007 and GLOBE Learning Expedition (GLE) in Cape Town, South Africa 2008.

She continues to be involved in both national and international GLOBE related projects, for example: the Youth Forum on Climate Change and Global Warming Conference in India, 21-23 April 2009; research and development of the coral reef protocol and mosquito protocol; ESS curriculum; and implementation of the Young Soil Doctor research in Thailand from 2007-2009.

Currently a Ph.D student at School of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences, University of Alaska Fairbanks, USA, Watcharee remains committed to supporting the GLOBE Program. "I hope I can support the program even more after I graduate with my degree. GLOBE inspires me to learn, like and love the real sciences. This program is very wonderful and I think it also meaningful for all students and teachers as well." Watcharee's enthusiasm for GLOBE is an inspiration to other students. GLOBE is confident she will remain connected to the GLOBE Program, as well as GLOBE Alumni, for many years to come.
