Bringing Science into the Classroom: Supporting Student Research Through GLOBE
On
Thursday, 19 June at 7:00 PM (Argentina time), the fifth monthly
webinar of the third year of the “Trees Within LAC”
campaign was held via Zoom. The session brought together 40
teachers from 11 countries: Angola, Argentina, Brazil,
Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay.
On this occasion, the campaign team presented a practical guide on how to develop student-led scientific research projects within the framework of the GLOBE Program. The webinar covered:
- The different stages of the research process, from initial observation to the final report.
- The GLOBE methodology and the use of its scientific protocols.
- The International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS) as an opportunity for students to present their research.
- Evaluation criteria and rubrics used to assess projects.
- Concrete recommendations for supporting students throughout the research process.
The webinar aimed to strengthen the capacity of educators across the region to foster environmental and collaborative student research.

Del aula a la ciencia: estrategias para acompañar investigaciones escolares con GLOBE
El jueves 19 de junio a las 19:00 (hora de Argentina) se llevó a cabo el quinto webinar mensual del tercer año de la campaña “Árboles dentro de LAC”, transmitido a través de la plataforma Zoom. El encuentro contó con la participación de 40 docentes de 11 países: Angola, Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Paraguay, Perú y Uruguay.
En esta oportunidad, el equipo de campaña presentó una guía práctica para el desarrollo de proyectos de investigación científica en el marco del Programa GLOBE. Durante el webinar se abordaron:

Las distintas etapas del proceso de investigación, desde la observación hasta la elaboración del informe final.

La metodología de GLOBE y el uso de los protocolos científicos del programa.

El International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS) como instancia de presentación de investigaciones estudiantiles.

Los criterios de evaluación y rúbricas utilizados para valorar los proyectos.

Recomendaciones concretas para acompañar a los estudiantes en el diseño y ejecución de investigaciones escolares.
El webinar tuvo como objetivo fortalecer las capacidades de docentes y educadores de la región para fomentar la investigación científica escolar con enfoque ambiental y colaborativo.
