Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists (YLACES) awards a Youth Environmental Science (YES) Medal annually in “recognition of a significant contribution to youth learning as citizen environmental scientists.” This year’s awardee was GLOBE’s Elena Sparrow of the University of Alaska! Another successful Fall 2024 Student Field Days at Earth Heart Farms has just concluded! Between 3 October and 17 October, over 350 students from Northwest Ohio K-12 schools visited, experienced nature firsthand, and enjoyed perfect weather for explorations. GLOBE Mission EARTH staff instructed students on collecting GLOBE data using Atmosphere, Hydrosphere, Biosphere and Pedosphere protocols. Local conservation professionals served as volunteers in helping students investigate flora and fauna.  >>

GLOBE Mission Earth invites educators, citizen scientists, and students all over the world to participate in the Urban Heat Island Intensive Observation Period (UHI-IOP) throughout October.  >>

Todd Toth at NASA Goddard worked with teachers to use coding kits and drones to collect atmospheric data. Data were then analyzed and sent to The GLOBE Program.  >>

The WestEd/UC Berkeley Partnership recently hosted the Fall 2019 North American Regional Meeting (NARM) at the University of California - Berkeley Lawrence Hall of Science. A total of 42 participants from over 30 U.S. GLOBE Partnerships and the GLOBE Country Coordinators of Canada and the U.S. attended this 3-day event. The first day, October 15th, started with a Professional Development workshop followed by the 2-day meeting.  >>

This spring, 39 students and 14 GLOBE teachers from Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico attended the Southwest Student Research Symposium (SRS) hosted by the Mescalero Apache School. Students presented a total of 16 GLOBE research projects in a poster presentation session and visited White Sands National Monument.  >>

The 23rd GLOBE Annual Meeting, which was held in Detroit, Michigan, USA, from 14-18 July, was attended by almost 250 people from 35 countries. Participants took part in a variety of engaging and enlightening presentations, workshops, cultural presentations, and special interest and professional development sessions. They were also treated to focused addresses by GLOBE Implementation Office (GIO) Director Dr. Tony Murphy and keynote speakers from around the regions.  >>
