A Forum Featuring GLOBE Protocols Brings Students and Educators Together to Learn More About the Program
The Directorate General of Education in Oman's South Batinah
Governorate conducted the GLOBE Environmental Climate and Carbon Forum
with wide participation of government institutions and in cooperation
with the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, the
Governate's Environmental Department, Asia Bint Muzahim School for
Basic Education and the Culture School for Basic Education. The
opening of the forum was sponsored by Khalifa bin Ali Al-Kalbani,
Assistant Director General for Education Affairs, in the presence of a
number of stakeholders, educators and academics.
The forum included the presentation of a number of student
projects. Using The GLOBE Program's Protocols, participants learn how
to collect scientific data in their local communities that focuses on
atmosphere, water, soil and land cover. This collaboration also
contributes to the exchange of data with others via the Internet, in
addition to publishing the results of scientific research, creating
maps and drawings on the GLOBE website, and cooperation between
teachers, students and scientists around the world.
