GLOBE Jordan: Student Posters Showcase Innovative Solutions to Address Local Air Pollution Problems

In celebration of Earth Day 2025, GLOBE Jordan educators at King Abdullah II School for Excellence–Zarqa organized a poster competition titled “Every Day Is Earth Day.” The competition invited students to design posters presenting innovative and practical solutions to address local air pollution problems. Submitted posters were evaluated by two judging panels, one internal to the school and one external. The internal panel included the school principal and five educators, whereas the external panel was chaired by Dr. Diaa Al-Rosan from the Hashemite University, with members from the Hashemite and Al-Zaytoonah universities, as well as environmental engineers from UNICEF.

Winning entries received awards for first, second, and third places, as well as special category prizes. Competition Judge Dr. Al-Rosan stated: “Such initiatives spark innovation in students and show that science can start with simple ideas presented in powerful ways.”

This event empowered students to apply their knowledge creatively while raising awareness about environmental challenges in their communities. It also built bridges between the school and external academic and environmental institutions, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in addressing real-world issues. One student noted: “It felt amazing to turn my ideas into a solution that could really help our city breathe cleaner air.” GLOBE educator Ruba Hapapkh commented: “Our students didn’t just participate—they led. The energy, creativity, and passion they brought to their projects were inspiring.”
