In an atmosphere brimming with enthusiasm and a passion for scientific discovery, the picturesque river valley, Wadi Al Khoudh, hosted a unique environmental event on 31 January 2026. Organized by the Directorate General of Education in Muscat Governorate, the event brought together students from six different schools for an intensive training camp focused on mastering the protocols of the GLOBE Program.

The event was held under the direct supervision of a select group of supervisors and educators from the Directorate, who were present to guide the students—including the Abdullah Bin Salam School team—and ensure the accuracy of their practical applications.

The camp transformed the Wadi Al Khoudh river valley into a "living laboratory," with a unique design integrating four essential scientific protocols into a single geographical location:

  1. Atmospheric Protocol: Under the open sky, students monitored weather conditions, measuring current, minimum, and maximum temperatures, and observing cloud types to correlate this data with the valley's local climate.
  2. Water Protocol: Using the valley's natural water resources, students collected samples to measure pH levels, temperature, and transparency, enhancing their awareness of water quality monitoring.
  3. Soil Protocol: Students engaged practically in exploring the valley's soil properties, examining its temperature and chemical characteristics.
  4. Land Cover Protocol: Participants surveyed the area to identify local plant and tree species, using measuring instruments to determine tree height and vegetation density, and documenting the site's biodiversity.

Supervisors commended the outstanding performance and scientific discipline demonstrated by the students of Abdullah Bin Salam School as they moved between the stations and recorded data. The school’s five promising students demonstrated exceptional engagement and a keen desire to maximize their learning experiences at the science stations, representing their school admirably alongside their peers from other schools.
