GLOBE Malta Students Engage in GLOBE Investigation to “Set the Example and Be Part of the Change”
In December 2020, students from Gozo Middle School (Victoria, Gozo, Malta) collaborated with students from Turkey, Italy, and Spain – as well as people from the general public – to investigate marine litter with the goal of understanding its causes.

“Water Harvesters” – GLOBE Students in Chile Work to “Make Every Drop Count”
In early 2019, students in a chemistry class at the Nicolas F. Lohose Vargas High School engaged in a debate on the problem of water shortages affecting the region; shortages that resulted in a catastrophic lack of irrigation for orchards and in animal mortality due to lack of forage.

The total solar eclipse that took place across portions of Argentina on 02 July 2019 was an “astronomical phenomenon” students from three GLOBE schools in Buenos Aires, Argentina, will never forget.

Rio de Janeiro Students Use GLOBE Observer Mosquito Habitat Mapper App to Become “Trained Observers”
Inês Mauad, GLOBE science teacher (and GLOBE Master Trainer) is working to help her students become “trained observers” and “mosquito hunters” using the GLOBE Mosquito Habitat Mapper (MHM) app – an effort that has helped them remain at the highest level of data collectors.

GLOBE Estonia Learning Expedition Helps Celebrate GLOBE’s 25th Anniversary
The 23rd GLOBE Estonia Learning Expedition 2020 (10-13 August) took place in Sammuli Holiday Village, Viljandi, Estonia. The aim was to kick-off GLOBE’s 25th anniversary celebrations in Estonia. The event was organized by Kilingi-Nõmme Gymnasium and Rakvere Science Secondary School. Various hands-on exploratory activities were carried out during the four-day event.

GLOBE Malta Cloud Challenge a Collaborative Success "During Difficult Times"
In order to celebrate The GLOBE Program’s 25th Anniversary and Earth Day 2020 (22 April), and World Environment Day (05 June), GLOBE Malta, the U.S. Embassy, and the Malta Embassy in Washington, D.C., teamed up in a joint project that highlighted U.S. and Maltese collaboration efforts designed to better understand the Earth systems and the global environment.

Spanish Translation and Online Training Covering GLOBE Protocols Allows LAC Region to Promote Collaboration and “Break Geographic Barriers”
A three-year effort, led by Uruguay Country Coordinator Andrea Ventoso, focused on translating GLOBE protocols and presenting Earth sphere online module training to teachers familiar with, and new to, GLOBE, has allowed community members in the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Region to “break geographic barriers,” even as the world plunged into new “virtual” pathways due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Virtual Celebration Highlights Irish Students’ Efforts to Promote Awareness of Traffic-related Air Pollution as Part of Air Quality Campaign
In May 2020, GLOBE Ireland held an online event to celebrate the completion of the 2019/2020 Air Quality campaign. Sixty-four schools from around Ireland took part in the campaign, which focused on assessing traffic-related air pollution around schools and raising awareness around the topic of air pollution.

Virtual Science Fair Celebrates Earth Day and GLOBE’s 25th Anniversary – “One Cannot Stop Science!”
In April 2020, students in the Dominican Republic came together in a “virtual historic event” to help celebrate Earth Day 2020 and The GLOBE Program’s 25th Anniversary.
