On 8 August 2012, more than 130 GLOBE students and teachers in Delhi, India, came together for the "Biodiversity on Edge 2012" Youth Forum, sponsored by the Indian Environmental Society (IES). Also in attendance were members of the GLOBE Asia-Pacific Regional Help Desk Office and the Department of Environment, Government of NCT (National Capital Territory) Delhi. This event gave Delhi students the opportunity to present various research projects pertaining to biodiversity and its conservation.  >>

The official Web site of the GLOBE Club of Maliyadeva College in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka, was ceremoniously launched 5 December 2007 by Mr. R.M.M. Rathnayake, the Principal of the College. With guidance from the Ministry of Education and other GLOBE Clubs in Sri Lanka, the Maliyadeva GLOBE Club is the first to launch a Web site dedicated to furthering information about GLOBE activities in Sri Lanka.  >>

The Bagmati River is the principal river of the Bagmati River Basin in central Nepal. Fed by springs, monsoon rainfall and a number of tributaries, the river originates in the north of Kathmandu Valley and flows on to North India, where it empties into the Ganges. For centuries it has been celebrated in music, poetry and literature because of the importance it holds in the cultural traditions of the Nepali people.  >>

On 8 May 2007, in Malé, Maldives, United States Ambassador to the Maldives Mr. Richard Blake and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia Mr. Richard Boucher, along with Mr. Ahmed Abdulla, Minister of Environment, Energy and Water, and Ms. Zahiya Zareer, Minister of Education, and the Deputy Ministers of both programs, held an official celebration to recognize the Maldives' implementation of the GLOBE Program. The Maldives became the 105th country to adopt the GLOBE program on 8 December 2003, when Mr. Abdul Azeez Yoosuf, former Maldivian Deputy Minister for Home Affairs and Environment, and Mr. Jeffrey Lunstead, former U.S. Ambassador for Maldives and Sri Lanka, signed the GLOBE Agreement.  >>

In Redding, California, GLOBE students are learning about science in innovative ways, while expanding their knowledge and awareness of the world. At Evergreen Charter School, GLOBE science has been integrated into all aspects of the curriculum: art, music, language arts, and science. Terri Lhuillier, a GLOBE-certified fifth grade teacher, has been implementing GLOBE protocols for two years, creating new ways to engage her students across the curriculum, through science.  >>

We all have experienced a few outstanding teachers who made a difference in our lives, teachers who were able to motivate us to do our best, and to instill a love of learning that continued beyond the classroom. Good teachers engage students through passion for the subject, creativity in the classroom and constant encouragement. They use a wide variety of methods, experiences, assignments and materials to be sure that their students are achieving cognitive objectives. In many schools, it is GLOBE activities that provide teachers with the scientific tools they need to teach students about the environment in which they live, but the GLOBE classroom becomes most dynamic when the teaching of science enhances the development of a diversity of skills.  >>

U.S. GLOBE Partner, Mr. Henry Ortiz of the Los Angeles Unified School District in California, led a series of lectures and informal discussions on ways to prepare environmental education curricula and to increase the efficacy of science teaching. The lectures were sponsored by the U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai, India and took place between 6 - 11 August 2006. Over 250 faculty members, administrators, NGO representatives and students from Pune and Mumbai attended the lecture series.  >>

Aimed at creating a network of GLOBE Program Schools along the coastline of Manila Bay to gather data relevant to its environmental state, the GLOBE Program in Philippines, in cooperation with the Indiana University Alumni Foundation (IUAF) Philippines, Inc. and the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) Main Campus, conducted a teacher training workshop entitled "Environmental Monitoring of Manila Bay using GLOBE Protocols."  >>
