GLOBE schools in Oman’s Muscat Governorate collaborated in February 2025 to train educators and students to implement the GLOBE Land Cover protocol.  >>

Oman students participated in an activity of data collection, using the GLOBE Surface Temperature Protocol to see if the color of the road in front of their school would affect the temperature of and around that road. Their findings sparked discussions with their local community about implementing beneficial changes to the area.  >>

In December 2024, the GLOBE Oman program supervisor and school activities specialist implemented an environmental program titled “My Environment, My Teacher.” The students’ data resulting from the implementation of Atmosphere and Hydrosphere Protocols in the GLOBE program was used as evidence of the change in temperature and rainfall over the past years. Students made the connection between their research and the over use of plastics.  >>

The GLOBE Oman team carried out activities in conjunction with the National Sports Day in schools across Oman. The team organized a lecture on 5 December 2024 for students on the importance of clean drinking water, which included applying the GLOBE Water Protocol to three different water samples.  >>

Over the past few months, members of GLOBE Oman in the North Sharqiyah Governorate, including students, educators, and supervisors, have taken part in events that increased their knowledge of GLOBE protocols and allowed for collaboration across Omani schools. Events include Omani Agriculture Day and the North Sharqiyah GLOBE Forum.  >>

This past November, a team of GLOBE Oman students summitted Jebel Shams, the highest peak in the Arabian Gulf. They recorded the temperature of the summit and measured some local trees using GLOBE Observer. Learn more.  >>

GLOBE Oman students are collecting data observations on local aflaj (traditional water canals). Their intention is to continue to collect data and compare current data with previously uploaded data to learn about environmental changes that may cause problems for the aflaj in the future.  >>

GLOBE Oman was busy this October. Read a few examples of how they are implementing GLOBE and fostering environmental stewardship and STEM skills, including exciting field trips to a farm, groundwater reservoir, and sites that grow the Farfar plant; in-school celebrations for World Space Week; and Arab Environment Day.   >>
