GLOBE Peru Teams with Peace Corps to Expand GLOBE in the Region
Peace Corps has been active in promoting and supporting GLOBE since 1997 when Peace Corps Volunteers first served as GLOBE teachers in Kyrgyzstan and helped with the implementation of the program. Peru Moves GLOBE Training Regime into High Gear
Peru has been a part of the GLOBE Program since 1997, originally implemented by the Environmental National Council (CONAM). The Environmental Ministry (MINAM) was created in May 2008 and currently oversees the coordination of GLOBE, promoting environmental education and civil participation through the collection of important data researching the effects of climate change, the state of hydraulic resources, and the value of biodiversity in Peru.  >>

University Students Use GLOBE Data to Carry Out Climate Research
Second year meteorology students from Peru's National Agrarian University in La Molina carried out a research project concerning the latitudinal variation of the Earth's air temperature using data from GLOBE Schools located in different parts of the world. Students in Peru are celebrating Earth Day with a special presentation at the TECHNOTRON fair in Lima, the capital city. The students from Fanning Secondary School will be taking practice measurements in maximum, minimum, and current temperature. Fanning will begin GLOBE activities at their school in May, as will five other Peruvian schools.  >>
