GLOBE Data

GLOBE's measurements date all the way back to the Spring of 1995. We've grown a lot since then and so have our operations. As our protocols and instrumentation have evolved over time, we take great care to maintain our data's intercompatibility from year to year. This ensures that no matter what analysis you conduct, you can be sure the data you're using is consistent and reliable.

Get Caught Up

As a public entity, GLOBE's databases are freely accessible to everyone. With that in mind, it's worth taking a few moments to learn how to best enter and access our data. Get up to speed with a deep dive into our protocols via the GLOBE Data User Guide and find demonstrations of our data analysis tools through our GLOBE Data Fundamentals Webinar.

Data retrieval and visualization are some of the easiest ways to investigate GLOBE data. That's why we've created tools that can create data maps, graphs, and tables directly on our site. However, if you're a researcher and prefer using your own analysis tools, you can also download our data directly

Need more data? For GLOBE data sets larger than our website's capabilities, contact the GLOBE Community Support team.

Data Entry

There are a variety of ways to log your measurements into our repositories. GLOBE data entry methods include:

Visualize and Retrieve Data

View and interact with data across the globe. You can map, graph, filter, and export historical GLOBE measurements with our Data Visualization System.

You can also access raw data directly with our Advanced Data Access Tool(ADAT). Refine your search through various parameters to get the exact data set you're looking for.

If data retrieval through API calls are more your speed, check out REST API service to find GLOBE data by protocol, date, latitude/longitude, country and more.

Science Honor Roll

Data collection and entry is critical to the success of GLOBE. In recognition of the data contributions students and schools make to the program, we've created The GLOBE Science Honor Roll to acknowledge the efforts of our most diligent participants. The honor roll is calculated based on Earth sphere and the frequency of data entry.

GLOBE Data Fundamentals

Learn how to access GLOBE data and find demonstrations of our various tools through this in-depth webinar. The GLOBE Data Fundamentals will walk you through setting up a GLOBE/Student account, our data entry protocols, weather station tutorials, and more.

GLOBE Data User Guide
