Czech GLOBE Stars 2018

GLOBE Czech Republic awarded three GLOBE schools with the title "Czech GLOBE Star 2018" for their significant achievements in the past year. The ceremony was held on 29 January at the American Center in Prague, and was carried out as Mini-GLOBE Games. The awarded schools received diplomas, medal,s and gifts from the members of the Scientific Board of TEREZA Educational Center and Regional Coordination Office of Europe and Eurasia.

The 2018 Czech GLOBE Stars are:

  • Elementary School Bystrice nad Pernstejnem, Nadrazni, for the organization of the 5th Mini-GLOBE Games, which are open to other schools in the city, and for exemplary interconnection of the programs: GLOBE and Eco-Schools.
  • Elementary School and kindergarten Svitavy, Sokolovska, for the traditional Mini-GLOBE Games organized on Earth Day (for around 420 participants). The school was also recognized for the systematic interconnection of the programs: GLOBE and Eco-Schools.
  • High School Kadan, 5. Kvetna, for the 10th Mini-GLOBE Games, which have become very popular not only in the city of Kadan, but also in the wider area.

The award ceremony had a great atmosphere. Among other things, the participants enjoyed a performance in which students of Elementary School Bystrice nad Pernstejnem used their research skills to measure the height of the tree by a clinometer.
