GLOBE Mission Earth Calculates Reach of GLOBE SciAct Projects

The NASA Science Activation (SciAct) program connects people of all ages and backgrounds with science content, experts, data and more from NASA’s Science Mission Directorate to encourage participation in science. This is accomplished through collaboration between SciAct project teams, including some GLOBE Partnerships, working within their communities across the U.S.

Recently, GLOBE Partners at the University of Toledo and GLOBE Mission Earth created a map that shows the reach of GLOBE-related SciAct Teams. These teams reached 1,143 out of 3,235 (35%) U.S. counties in 2024. The data for this map originated from each team’s 2024 reach map as requested by the SciAct program for evaluation purposes.

Data from eight GLOBE-related SciAct Teams — representing more than 20 GLOBE Partnerships — were included in the map.

  • Arctic and Earth SIGNs (STEM Integrating GLOBE and NASA assets)
  • AREN Project (AEROKATS and ROVER Education Network)
  • GLOBE Mission Earth
  • Learning Ecosystems Northeast
  • NESEC (NASA Earth Science Education Collaborative)
  • PLACES (Place-based Learning to Advance Connections, Education, and Stewardship)
  • SEES (STEM Enhancement in Earth Science)
  • Smoky Mountains STEM Collaborative

Find more information about these and other SciAct Teams.

Congratulations to the U.S. GLOBE Partnerships who are directly involved in these SciAct Teams or work collaboratively with them.
