Dr. John Francis is currently walking across South Africa to promote environmental awareness and kindness, while engaging communities in environmental data collection with GLOBE Africa. Joined by former GIO director John Ristvey in September, they are taking GLOBE observations along the journey from Plettenberg Bay to Rietbron and on towards the Botswana border. The Latin American and Caribbean RCO, along with support from various LAC country leadership, just completed a series of seminars on the 2024 Annular Eclipse. The goal was to train the community, especially educators, on various aspects of the annular eclipse, preparing for the event that will take place on 2 October. Seminar recordings are available for viewing.  >>

As autumn arrives in the Northern Hemisphere, trees across Europe and Eurasia burst into vibrant shades of yellow and red, preparing for their winter rest. Their leaves gradually change color and fall in a process known as green-down. But when does this happen in different parts of the region? Students participating in the Autumn Tree (Phenology) Campaign have the chance to find out.  >>
