GLOBE Uruguay organized an important GLOBE Teacher Training Workshop in Montevideo on 26-27 October 2012. Held in both the Alianza Cultural Uruguay—Estados Unidos, and Colonia de Vacaciones de Malvin, 23 teachers attended from all over the country, representing the following departments: Artigas, Canelones, Cerro Largo, Colonia, Durazno, Flores, Florida, Maldonado, Montevideo, Río Negro, Salto, Soriano, and Tacuarembó. Invitations were sent to departments with current GLOBE schools as well as departments where GLOBE schools are not yet established.  >>

Many public high schools in Costa Rica utilize their campus science club as a platform for the development of GLOBE hydrology investigations that encourage scientific thinking through inquiry-based research methods including data collection and analysis. Students use these data to explore environmental problems within their local communities.  >>

In order to assist in Chile's implementation of the GLOBE Program, GLOBE Chile has aligned the GLOBE Program with national education standards to help teachers incorporate GLOBE into several areas of study. The current Chilean educational policy continuously considers environmental education and management as a cross-curricular objective for Chilean education (Decreto Supremo de Educación Nº 220 de Chile).  >>

The Fifth Meeting of GLOBE Country Coordinators in the Latin American and the Caribbean Consortium (CLAC) took place in San Antonio, Texas on 27-28 July 2007, preceding the 11th GLOBE Annual Conference. In attendance were Country Coordinators and representatives from Argentina, the Bahamas, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay.  >>

A high school delegation from Notre Dame School, a GLOBE school in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, won Best Position Paper and Honorable Mention at the Model UN held from 18-22 April 2007 in New York City. Their paper and presentation focused on strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to create sanctions against companies that do nothing to diminish greenhouse gases.  >>

The Fourth Meeting of GLOBE Coordinators of Latin American and the Caribbean took place on 2-3 February 2007, in Panama City, Panama. Country Coordinators and representatives attended from Argentina, the Bahamas, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay. Representatives from Brazil also participated.  >>

GLOBE students and teachers linked up with scientists and astronauts from Argentina and the United States at a video conference in June entitled "El Espacio, La Ciencia, y el Medio Ambiente" (Space, Science and the Environment). Video and audio equipment joined four sites: Buenos Aires, San Luis and Santa Fe in Argentina, (which also hosted GLOBE students and teachers), and the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, USA. Officials from Argentina's space agency, Comision Nacional de Actividades Espaciales (CONAE) joined officials from the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in presenting topics from manned activities in space to the latest satellite projects.  >>
