One of the things I do as a GLOBE partner is facilitate workshops for educators. When I facilitate a workshop for credit, I always require a short reflection. I use reflection because when teachers, like all of us, stop and think about what they learned the learning is deeper and more relevant. And, candidly, they are more likely to implement GLOBE into their classrooms. To give participants direction in their reflecting, I use the 4 R model of reflection: review, relate, remark, revise. - Review.  I was selected as a National Geographic  2017 Grosvenor Teacher Fellow  which is a professional development opportunity that provides educators a rich, immersive experience exploring the world to bring back to their teaching and communities. GLOBE is a useful resource for educators in both the formal and informal sector. Stipend Information The site set up stipend has been extended a month! If you are a GLOBE trained teacher in South Dakota, set up a site in in the GLOBE database in preparation for data collection in April to receive a $50 stipend.  The site set up can be for any protocol, even one you are currently doing. The only requirement is that you set up a new site. Student Research Symposia The South Dakota Discovery Center is pleased to announce the Northwest Region Student Research Symposium will be held at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology June 1-2. Teams of up to three middle or high school students are invited to present a GLOBE based research project (or question investigation if research project is too intimidating). Students from the Northwest GLOBE Region (SD, ND, NE, MT, WY, ID, OR, WA, AK) are invited to participate. Funding is available to cover transportation to the event.
