The Philippines welcomes and congratulates its first Mentor Trainers


The GLOBE Program (Philippines) proudly welcomes and congratulates the first Certified Mentor Trainers in the Philippines – Ms. Joan Bilasano Callope and Ms. Babie Noreen Padilla Clemente  for having completed their evaluation and assessment under the new “Trainer and Mentor Trainer” certification process during the recently concluded Asia-Pacific Capacity Building Program  on March 14 – 17, 2023. Ms. Callope and Ms. Clemente were evaluated by Rod Allan A. De Lara, Country Coordinator and a member of the GLOBE Education Working Group.


 

The training event was organized by the GLOBE Asia-Pacific Coordination Office. As candidate mentor trainers in the event, the two helped develop the training program and schedule of field activities for thirteen (13) candidate GLOBE Teachers, and eighteen (18) candidate GLOBE Trainers from nine (9) countries in the Asia-Pacific region. They also facilitated the protocol training together with trainers from the Philippines, Thailand, and India; and acted as mentor and coach to candidate trainers during the entire event.

Ms. Callope and Ms. Clemente are among the first Mentor Trainers in the Asia-Pacific region, and joins an elite community of GLOBE Mentor Trainers worldwide.


Prior to their new status, Ms. Joan Bilasano Callope was
an active Master Trainer, certified in all four (4) spheres i.e. Atmosphere, Pedosphere, Hydrosphere and Biosphere Protocols. For the last five (5) years she has been conducting GLOBE training and workshops for teachers and trainers in the Philippines, Vietnam, Maldives, Nepal, Thailand, South Korea, and India. She is one of the most sought after GLOBE trainer in the Asia- Pacific region. Due to her successful implementation of GLOBE Programs and activities in the Philippines, she was awarded “Most Outstanding Teacher in Quezon City” in 2019 besting more than 25,000 public school teachers in the district. Ms. Callope is the unit head of the Science, Technology and Engineering (STE) program of the Batasan Hills National High School – the largest high school in the Philippines in terms of enrollment, with over 20,000 students. Ms. Callope joined the GLOBE program in 2017, and is an active member of the GLOBE Technology Working Group, the GLOBE International STEM Network (GISN). She is also the Asst. Country Coordinator for the Philippines.

On the other hand, Ms. Babie Noreen Padilla Clemente is an active GLOBE Teacher, certified GLOBE Trainer for all four (4) spheres i.e. Atmosphere, Pedosphere, Hydrosphere and Biosphere Protocols; and a Master Trainer for Hydrosphere – Mosquito Protocol. In the last five (5) years, Ms. Clemente has been doing GLOBE training and workshops for teachers and trainers in various regions in the Philippines. She is currently the Science Department Head and Overseer of the Science, Technology and Engineering (STE) Program of the Batasan Hills National High School. She joined the GLOBE Program in 2018.
