OA-ICC Considers Ocean Acidification Training in Capetown, South Africa
Interested in a training course on ocean acidification? The Ocean Acidification International Coordination Centre (OA-ICC) is interested in determining potential interest in a November workshop in Capetown, South Africa.
The far-reaching effects of ocean acidification, combined with the increasing interest in the topic both nationally and internationally, elevate the need for students and researchers to have skills that enable them to successfully address issues associated with the inter- and multidisciplinary field of ocean acidification. A firm grasp of the fundamentals and standards within the field will provide students increased mobility within the scientific community and provide a highly desirable exchange of critical scientific ideas globally. In order to meet the demands of future research in this field, there is a need for hands-on ocean acidification short courses that will convene scientists and graduate students of the biological, geological, and chemical oceanography research communities to gain mutual insig
The OA-ICC organizes, co-organizes, and/or supports participation of students at training courses on ocean acidification. This workshop will be building on the success of workshops hosted in Brazil, Italy, and Chile. All expenses for accepted applicants will be paid for by OA-ICC/IAEA.
