GLOBE’s Accessibility Technology Solution Sub-Committee Seeks Input from Visually Impaired Community Members
GLOBE’s Accessibility Technology Solution Sub-Committee is seeking input from the GLOBE community. The special committee is charged by GLOBE’s Working Group chairs to explore ways in which technology and other tools can potentially facilitate greater levels of accessibility for everyone in relation to GLOBE tools and resources. The goal of this effort is to reduce and, where possible, remove impediments to maximum levels of participation in GLOBE.

High School Students in 2022 SEES Intern Program Share Research Experiences
High school students participating in a collaboration effort between The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and the NASA Texas Space Grant Consortium (TSGC) to extend the TSGC Summer Enhancement in Earth Science (SEES) Internship program are sharing their research experiences in recent GLOBE Community Blogs.

GLOBE Student Vloggers Create Collaboration Vlogs
In December, the GLOBE Student Vloggers (GSVs) and GSV Alumni Mentors grouped up virtually to create collaboration vlogs. These vlogs – coming to GLOBE’s YouTube channel later this month -- compare the students’ environments using GLOBE protocols.

GLOBE Urban Heat Island Effect (UHIE)-Surface Temperature IOP is on!
The December Urban Heat Island Effect (UHIE)-Surface Temperature Intensive Observation Period (IOP) has begun! The UHIE-Surface Temperature IOP takes place in October, December, and March. IOPs involve GLOBE students, scientists, educators, and researchers collecting and entering targeted data into the GLOBE database during specific periods of time.

U.S. Schools: Grant Application for Teachers of Critical Languages Program Open through 23 January
The American Councils for International Education has announced the opening of the Teachers of Critical Languages Program (TCLP) grant application. TCLP is funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, and helps K-12 schools in the United States launch new, or expand existing, Arabic or Mandarin language programs. The application deadline for TCLP host schools is 23 January 2023, 11:59 p.m. EST.

Participating in the 2023 International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS)? Join the multilingual webinar, “GLOBE Clouds Student Research Resources” on 12 December, 04:00 p.m. EST. Marilé Colón Robles (NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, Virginia, USA) and Rosalba Giarratano (NASA Langley) will share GLOBE clouds resources that can help students prepare to participate in the 2023 IVSS. The webinar will be presented in Spanish and English.

The U.S. GLOBE Office, with support from its funders, NASA and YLACES (Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists), has been working to provide opportunities for U.S. GLOBE teachers and their students to engage with scientist mentors from the GLOBE International STEM Network (GISN).
