Roman", serif]We ran the Green Down campaign with 3rd grade
students in September and October.
We chose Linden and Birch for observation. We marked four leaves on each tree with a string. Twice a week, we took measurements by using a colour scale to determine the dominant colour on each sheet. We photographed both trees with the GrowApp and entered the data into the Globe Observer program.
The students were happy to monitor the leaf colouration and participate in recording the measurements. It was exciting for them to observe how the foliage changes over time.
The activity was a great starting point to talk about the changes that happen to the trees in the fall.

end of October, one leaf turned 2.5 Y 8/6, all other leaves are 5 GY
3/2.

Roman", serif]The linden still has all its leaves, which are the
color 5GY 4/8.
